We often associate the terms spiritual growth and godliness with morality and discipline, erroneously assuming that if our behavior is moral and we follow all the rules, spiritual growth will automatically follow. But that is not how Jesus thought. And it is not what He taught. Prayer is important, but God’s ultimate goal is not to get us to pray more. Morality is essential but God’s ultimate goal is not just to get us to do more moral things.
God’s priority is to make us like Jesus.

Or am I representing the Jesus of the Bible, the life-giving, direction-altering, and destiny-revealing Jesus?
